Pets are family!

They deserve quality care when you can't be there.

The Social Pet Sitter is committed to providing personalized care for your pet. We aim to provide you with peace of mind in knowing that your pet and your home are being cared for just as you would like it to be!

We are an Insured and Bonded service, and we tailor each and every visit to meet your needs.

We will make sure your pet is exercised, fed, and given a lot of TLC while you're away. An added bonus of our service is the sense of security in knowing that your home is being routinely checked over each time we visit.

Regardless of your pets size, type, or personality, you can rest easily knowing that we treat every pet as if it is our own (with lots of love and patience!)

We know that you work hard to provide a happy, healthy life for your pet. Let us help you maintain that standard. Your pet deserves it!

What kind of pets may benefit from Pet Sitting Visits?

Your pet(s) may benefit from routine visits from our Pet sitters if:

  • They are not comfortable or suited to kennel environments

  • They are a higher energy breed that requires personalized attention

  • They require specialized care and medications on a regimented schedule

  • They need routine bathroom breaks, exercise, or feedings while you are away for a longer period of time

  • They are an older pet who enjoys the stress-free environment of their own home

We have experience with pets from all walks of life, and look forward to meeting your furry, feathered, or finned critter.

Contact us below to request a Complementary Meet & Greet Consultation!

You'll be happy to know we have important policies in place that help to guarantee the best quality service for you and your pet. This is a brief summary of our policies. At the first Meet & Greet Consultation, we will go over and discuss the full Service Agreement together.

Please note, we require at least 7 days notice from your inquiry to service date in order to allow for a Meet and Greet (new clients).

  • Payment:

All payment is due in full when the Service Dates and Service Agreement have been agreed upon. This usually happens at the Meet & Greet Consultation appointment. We accept e-transfer, cheque, or cash.

If there are extenuating circumstances, we reserve the right to discuss different payment arrangements or a payment plan for longer service periods.

  • Keys:

We require a set of keys to be made up prior to the time you leave. These keys will be collected at the Complementary Meet & Greet appointment, where we will learn about your pet, your home, and your pet's routine. We keep your keys in a secure location with a code attached (your personal information is not included on the key tag for security reasons). We can keep these keys on file for future visits, or if you prefer, we can arrange to have the keys returned to you after you're home.

  • Vaccinations:

All pets must have proof of up-to-date vaccinations (DHPP, rabies, etc.) by a Veterinarian. Unfortunately, we cannot care for animals who are not vaccinated.

  • Supplies

We require you to supply the necessary and safe equipment/supplies needed to care for your pet. This includes, but is not limited to:

-A sturdy, well fit harness and lead rope (we prefer harnesses over collars, as they are generally more comfortable for your pet. We prefer lead ropes to retractable leashes for safety and effectiveness of training.)

-Poop bags

-Firmly affixed vaccination tags

-Pooper Scoopers, litter boxes, and litter

-Food and medicines

-Cleaning supplies

-Suitable toys

Please make sure you have enough of all of these things to last for the the time you will be away. If necessary, we will purchase items required for the safe and comfortable care of your pet, and will provide you with receipts for reimbursement.

  • Vacation Visit / Dog Walking Cancellation Policy

We understand that sometimes plans change. To best accommodate all of our clients, we ask that you try to let us know as soon as possible if you need to cancel.

If you request a vacation visit cancellation:

  • 8+ days prior to service, you will be issued a full refund.

  • 2-7 days prior to service, 75% of the booking fee will be refunded.

  • 0 - 48 hours prior to service, we will issue no refunds.

If you request a dog walk cancellation:

  • 2+ days prior to dog walk, we can reschedule your walk for a later time,

  • One day or less prior to dog walk, we do not offer rescheduling for that paid walk.

As we work on a schedule to accommodate all of our valued clients, we thank you for understanding this policy.

  • Policy for other visitors in the home

The Social Pet Sitter can not share access to your home while you are away. Firstly, we want to make sure we are responsible for giving your pet the best care possible, and maintaining its schedule. Other visitors may over feed, over medicate, or otherwise disturb your pets regular schedule. We can only guarantee the unprecedented care and quality of our services if we are the only service entering your home. We are insured and bonded for your peace of mind, and other visitors with access to your home during your time away may adversely affect the security of your home, which puts both your pet and our employees at risk.

**The only exception to this policy may be if The Social Pet Sitter is employed only to take your pet for daily walks. This is subject to our discretion.

  • Aggressive Pets

If your pet exhibits aggressive behaviors at the Meet & Greet, or has a history of aggressive behavior, we will not be able to care for your pet. This is for the safety of both your pet and for our employees.

  • Holidays

A $10 surcharge will be added to regular rates for visits occurring on New Years Eve, New Years Day, Family Day, Good Friday, Easter Sunday, Easter Monday, Victoria Day, Canada Day, Heritage Day, Labour Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and Boxing Day.

OUR

SERVICES

** For cat, dog, small animal, and walk services, there is an extra charge of $5.00 per visit for 2 or more animals.

Lachelle is the founder of The Social Pet Sitter. She has always been an animal lover from a very young age. Growing up visiting her grandparents farm near Two Hills, she grew an appreciation for all kinds of creatures; furry, feathered and everything inbetween. She would help to pick eggs from the chicken coops, milk cows, observe the pond frogs, and play with the dogs and cats on the farm.

Throughout highschool and into her time at university, she worked at a local kennel and daycare. This is where she gained applied experience observing animal behavior and working with pets from all walks of life. She worked with both 'socialized' and 'unsocialized' animals, providing loving attention through walks, affection and playtime. She quickly was offered a supervisory position in the kennel where she was trained to dispense medications, provide insulin injections, prepare meals for special dietary concerns. Attention to detail  is, and always has been of the utmost importance, especially in this area. She always felt 'at home' working with animals, and had a special knack for interpreting animal body language and behaviors, as well as encouraging positive behaviors

About 6 years ago, Lachelle adopted a "special needs" Sphynx/Devon Rex cat named Bluebelle. Up until this point, she had never owned her own pets, but had cared for many. Bluebelle was born with Horner's Syndrome, which means that one of her eyes is non-functional, needing to be cleaned both day and night. She also is regularly bathed, teeth brushed, ears cleaned and nails clipped, as is required her breed.

Lachelle understands how important your pet is to your life, as a member of your family. With the Social Pet Sitter, she strives to provide a top-quality service that ensures the happiness and safety of your animal  and home while you're away.

The Social Pet Sitter is Insured and Bonded by ProFur Insurance, and is a registered member of the Pet Sitters International Professional Group.
